  Quito Transport Platform — AWS Data Engineering

  End-to-end AWS pipeline that ingests Quito's transit network from the OpenStreetMap Overpass API and weather from OpenWeather into an S3 data lake as date-partitioned Parquet. Airflow DAGs orchestrate ingest, validate, transform, and load; Great Expectations gates data quality before anything reaches the processed zone; dbt builds a tested star schema in Redshift, surfaced through Metabase. Infrastructure fully in Terraform with least-privilege IAM, and documented data governance covering ownership, retention, PII, and SLA. The original GTFS source turned out not to exist — verified against 4,000+ feeds in two public registries — so the platform was redesigned around network structure instead of schedule adherence.
